A Great Week In 5th Grade

One busy Monday morning, kids filed through the doors, ready for a new day. Vasanthi's class hung up their stuff, ready for art. Kids lined up at the door and the week began!  Here are some important things that we did throughout the week.
1.  We went to Double Art and worked on our TreeHouse project.
2.  We had NECAPS, thanks for the yummy snacks!  First,we did 3 Reading Sessions and Vasanthi gave us refreshing mints to stay focused.  We also had our first Writing Session.  After each session, we enjoyed our snacks outside and played Capture the Flag or simply played on the playground!
3.  We had Kindergarten Book Buddies and we got to read picture books to them and taste healthy kiwi.  They even read to us!
4.  Thanks to Katie, we had wonderful trail mix, with tons of leftovers!  We read out Scholastic News and talked with our friends from the lovely, Mrs. Crowther's class.
5.  Vasanthi read aloud from WONDER all week!  We will be having a book discussion with Miss Natalie's class next Friday.  We also started Out of My Mind for the Global Read Aloud!
6.  We helped Megan Maynard's 3rd Grade class type up their Narratives!
7.  We launched into our Study of Space and we are working on posters to share with the class!
8.  At math time we uncovered new calendar.  We are making thoughtful mathematical observations and predictions about the pattern.
9.  In Math, we also learned about Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally!  Ask your child about it!
10.  That's all.
