Orca Whales, Yorktown and Gettysburg!

Today we had 3 more P.I.P presentation shares!  We heard shares from Ian, Josh, Bevan, Haley and Eliza.  Bevan, Haley and Eliza taught us about orca whales!  Did you know that orca whales on average have 40-56 teeth? Today we also heard from Ian, who told us that 51,000 people were wounded missing or dead in the battle of Gettysburg.  One more topic we learned  about was from Josh, the battle of Yorktown.  He told us that the Americansand French had 16,000 men and the British only had 6,000 men. We are learning so many things about a variety of topics and are looking forward to the ones we have yet to hear!

Pineapples!

Today, 5/16/16, Emma and Tess presented their P. I. P. on Pineapples.  They were the the 4th share so far and there are so many to come!  These 2 ladies were clear in talking and spent up to 6 hours preparing for this presentation.  They had three subjects which were fun facts, where pineapples grow and how they geow.  They read from index cards and were very clear. They did great!  - Kate Boget

Diversity Guidance Lesson

Today we had a deep lesson on diversity.  We talked about what it meant. Then we  did a activity (as you can see in the top three pictures). We had a new paper classmate.  Each person said something mean about them and Vasanthi tore off a peice of our new classmate.  At the end we all tried to tape him/her back together.  I think we all got out of this that it is easy to say mean things, but hard to take them back or it is easy to tear someone apart, but not to put them back together.

Cooperation to Colony Compacts!

As colonists we have landed in the New World!  Small groups of us are ready to explore the land!  However, before we all depart the boat we must creat our constitution or compact.  What do we believe in?  What will we fight for?  How will we make decisions, solve problems, protect ourselves?
